Meet Lucy Clarkson, born July 6, 1982, in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, an English model. She snagged the gig as the fourth official Lara Croft model for the Tomb Raider video game series in May 2000 at just 17, rockin’ it for two and a half years until Jill de Jong took over in 2002.
On top of her Lara Croft role, she’s modeled for big names like Vivienne Westwood and other major designers. Lucy went to Wath-upon-Dearne Comprehensive school and kicked off her career after winning a spot in an Elite Model Agency contest, one of 12 out of 16,000 entrants, with zero modeling experience. At 16, she became the face of More Magazine, landed tons of covers, and starred in campaigns for brands like La Senza, Chanel, Diesel, Sports Illustrated, Favela Brazilian swimwear, Marks and Spencer, Marie Claire, Wrigleys, Kinder, Veet, and De Beers. She’s currently reppin’ Pearl Drops toothpaste and Kellogg’s Special K cereal.
After dealing with an eating disorder, Lucy speaks out against size-zero standards and pops up on BBC News 24. She’s also big on raising cash for SPANA (Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad) as a celeb patron.
In summer 2008, she was featured in a BBC documentary, Jess My New Face, where she was interviewed by a young woman with a facial disfigurement about challenges with physical identity. In April 2009, she tried livin’ like a dog for a BBC doc, My Life as an Animal: Dogs, but bailed after two days, worried about gettin’ laughed at.
Lucy’s a regular on BBC London radio with Joanne Good on The Late Show, weeknights at 10pm. She’s also been named the face of Special K’s Glamour Magazine diary girl for 2011.
In 2011, she teamed up with ex-model Julie Grant to launch The London Academy of Modelling.
