Dana Michelle Plato (November 7, 1964 – May 8, 1999) was a straight-up dope actress who played Kimberly Drummond on the US TV show “Diff’rent Strokes” from ’78 to ’86.
After she left the show, she tried to keep her acting career going, but it was hit-or-miss: she did some made-for-TV movies and indie flicks, and even did some voice-over work. But at 34 years old, after battling poverty and substance abuse for years, Plato passed away from an OD on prescription drugs. R.I.P.
